Samples and bulk orders: how we work together

Updated: 3 min read

How much glow pigment you need follows from your application – and you know it best. We provide the basis for your calculation, advise you and supply samples for your tests.

The process in six steps

  1. Enquiry. You tell us about your application: carrier material, process, desired glow colour and approximate quantity – most easily via our enquiry form.
  2. Advice. We get back to you with a technical assessment and are happy to advise you by phone or video call – on raw material, particle size, glow colour and loading.
  3. Samples. For specific project enquiries, we put together suitable samples for you – usually free of charge.
  4. Testing and evaluation. You test the samples in your own system – with your carrier, your process and your layer thickness.
  5. Determining requirements. Based on your test results, you calculate your requirements. We support you in doing so.
  6. Bulk supply. You order the project, series or bulk quantity from us – also as a recurring production quantity in large containers.

How your requirements are determined

The requirement is yours – it depends on how much carrier material you process and how brightly your product should glow. As a basis for calculation and testing, we usually assume around 20 % pigment relative to the carrier material. This lets you estimate the order of magnitude in advance – more under calculating glow pigment quantities.

How much you actually need in the end is your decision: ideally through your own tests and an evaluation in your production. How brightly a product glows depends on carrier, layer thickness, particle size and charging – general figures cannot replace a test in your own system.

Our contributionWe provide the starting values, advise on material and processing and discuss your requirements with you. You decide on loading and quantity based on your tests.

Sampling

In conversation – by phone, video call or in writing – we clarify your requirements. This shows which particle size and which tint you need and whether there are other requirements for the pigment. We then put together the samples. Sample quantities are usually free of charge; in individual cases we agree a flat fee – which we discuss with you in advance.

Sampling matters to us: you get a feel for the material and can evaluate it yourself. The decision stays where it belongs – with you.

Containers, quantities and lead time

  • Containers: we are completely flexible on packaging – for example pails of 1, 5 or 10 kg, or however you can best receive the goods. This applies to pigments, granules and glow stones.
  • Quantities: there are no fixed minimum quantities. As a B2B supplier, however, we do not work in the gram range – for small quantities, our sister brand lumentics is the right place.
  • Lead time: it depends on the material and the tint, for example for tinted pigments or glow stones. Thanks to good relationships with customers, suppliers and producers, you should allow at least two weeks, realistically around four weeks' lead time. For recurring requirements, a forecast helps.

What you can prepare for the first conversation

  • carrier material (e.g. lacquer, resin, plastic) and whether it is transparent, light or opaque
  • process and processing temperature – important because tinted pigments are ruled out from approx. 150 °C
  • layer thickness or wall thickness
  • desired glow colour and how the product should look in daylight
  • approximate quantity of your carrier material per batch or year
  • time frame of your project

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I get samples?
Yes. For specific project enquiries, we are happy to put together suitable samples so that you can test the material in your own system.
How do you advise?
By phone, video call or email – on raw material, particle size, glow colour, loading and processing.
How much do samples cost?
Sample quantities are usually free of charge. In individual cases we agree a flat fee – which we discuss in advance.
How long does delivery of a bulk quantity take?
That depends on material and tint. Allow at least two weeks, realistically around four weeks’ lead time.
How much pigment do I need to order?
There are no fixed minimum quantities; your requirement follows from your application.
